empire-waist-halter-dress-gapThe beginning stages of pregnancy are an exciting time, full of expectation and wonder about what is going to happen to your body and your new baby over the coming months. Keeping yourself healthy is one thing, but continuing to look stylish is quite another when that baby bump starts emerging.

Of course in the early stages you might not quite be ready for proper maternity clothes but your normal clothes are feeling a little tight, so what are your options?

Never fear because you can still look stylish in the in-between phase without resorting to buying unnecessary clothes.

The Rubber Band Trick

One favorite trick of new mothers-to-be is to keep your jeans and pants unbuttoned but loop a rubber band through the fly and attached to the button to keep your pants up. Then by wearing a longer top no-one will be the wiser and you’ll still be comfortable.

Get a Belly Band

Belly Bands are a must have item for newly pregnant woman as they will extend your current wardrobe by months before you get into proper maternity clothing. They are made of a stretchy fabric that covers the tummy and bum to hide pants that are unbuttoned or those moms using the rubber band trick. They just look like you’ve got a long close fitting tank or t-shirt under your regular top.

There are many pregnancy belly bands on the market both designer and generic brands to suit all budgets. They also usually come in a variety of colors to match your current wardrobe.

Sort through Your Current Clothes

You may be surprised that many of your current clothing can also be used during pregnancy. The trend right now is for flowing tops and baby doll style dresses which are loose and will hide your emerging baby bump very easily.

Stretchy clothing, such as yoga pants and leggings are also great staples to have right now and look good paired with tunic style tops.
