Congratulations you are now 6 Weeks Pregnant!

Your Baby

6weeksAt 6 weeks pregnant your baby is still very small and looks like a mini-tadpole. She is only about 4 millimeters long although a lot is happening to her. Her eyes, ears and mouth have began to form and the brain will be forming into three distinct parts and her heart is beating and pumping blood around the rest of her body.

The kidneys and liver have also started to develop and her neural tube that connects the brain to the spinal cord has closed.

The placenta is also developing strongly at this stage and even though it still has a while to go until it starts taking over your hormone production in week 12 it is supplying some essential nutrients to your baby.

You

At 6 weeks pregnant, you are barely showing.

At 6 weeks pregnant, you are barely showing.

At 6 weeks pregnant, you are still probably just getting used to the idea that you actually ARE pregnant since you may not even feel like you are at this stage.

Morning sickness tends to kick in around 6 to 8 weeks as the levels of hormones rise in the body and the uterus starts to expand. If you are unlucky enough to get morning sickness (which can actually occur at any time of the day) then take comfort in the knowledge that many women who experience morning sickness have a lower risk of miscarriage.

At any rate your morning sickness is likely to disappear on the second trimester so hang in there.

You are also likely to be very tired right now and with good reason – there is a lot going on in your body right now that is using all your energy. And of course many women start to say that their boobs start to really hurt – this is due to the increasing levels of hormones that are running through your body right now.
