14 Weeks Pregnant – Boy or Girl – Is it too early to tell?
ADVERTISING
If you’ve just found out that you are pregnant you are probably excited to find out whether you are having a boy or girl baby, but how early can you tell the sex of your child?
An ultrasound can usually tell the sex of the baby at around 16 to 20 weeks, although some women claim that they have had ultrasounds as early as 14 weeks pregnant to find out if they were having a boy or girl. Trying to determine the sex of the baby at that early stage however can often give a wrong diagnosis.
Very recently product’s have come onto the market that claim to be able to tell the gender of your baby as little as 7 weeks after conception (around 9 to 10 weeks pregnant). These gender prediction tests however are very expensive and still can’t 100% guarantee a correct diagnosis so should be used with caution.
Of course, if you are trying to guess whether you are having a boy or girl early in your pregnancy, an old wives tale is that the babies heart rate is above 140bpm then it will be a girl, and if it is below 140bpm then it will be a boy.
Of course the only way to know for sure is to wait until the big day!
